About
Mónica R. Goya is an independent freelance journalist and photographer whose work focuses primarily on the fields of farming, food, sustainability, wine growers and travel. She also covers environmental issues. Her long-term journalistic projects explore the culture of working the land and the intersection of human rights, food politics and sustainability. She has a strong interest in agriculture and food justice and she is a volunteer at Food First since 2014.
Her first book, Urban Farmers, in collaboration with photographer Valery Rizzo and edited by Gestalten, was published in spring 2021. Originally published in English, it has been translated to German and French and it’s available worldwide.
Having spent more than a decade in London, she has recently returned to her native Spain and she is now based between Madrid and the north. She is a European citizen, speaks English and Spanish and can communicate in French and Italian. She spends her spare time in the outdoors.
